Data Engineer 

Job Type: Temporary 

Duration of booking: Expected to last 6 months with possible extension

Pay Rates: £23.49 per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay or £28 umbrella 

Hours / Working Days: Monday to Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm Friday: 8:30am – 4:30pm - 37 hours per week

About the Role

Brentwood Council is expanding its data infrastructure and is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to support key data transformation and integration initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern Microsoft Fabric technologies while playing a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s data capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement data transformation and integration solutions
• Re-engineer existing legacy scripts and processes into modern, scalable solutions
• Develop and maintain integrations using Python
• Work with databases and data manipulation techniques to efficiently move and process data
• Transform, store, and export data for ingestion into business applications
• Collaborate with stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer
• Strong Python development skills (essential)
• Experience with data transformation, integration, and ETL processes
• Solid understanding of databases and data manipulation techniques
• Experience or exposure to Microsoft Fabric technologies (highly desirable)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
