People Services Advisor
This role will be required to provide a responsive and high-quality HR advisory service on a range of employment related matters such as employee health and well-being, and absence management.
This role will provide advice on wellbeing issues in an effective and consistent manner in line with trust policies and procedures.
The role will include working closely with leaders in the divisions as well as key stakeholders within the People Services team and will also work in partnership with trade union representatives on case work, ensuring effective and inclusive communication.

Pay Rates: Up to £19 per hour Umbrella or £17 per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay
Hours / Working Days: 37.5 hours per week / Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm

KEY RESULT AREAS
- To deliver a professional HR support and advisory service which meets the agreed key performance indicators, with a requirement to manage their own caseload with support from the People Services Manager.
- To provide a responsive, professional and in-depth support and advice service for manager and staff on employment related matters responding to face to face, e-mail and telephone enquiries.
- To support absence and sickness within the Trust, ensuring that return to work interviews are undertaken in a timely manner within Divisions and Business Units, and work in conjunction with, and alongside the Occupational Health Team.
- To develop and deliver training and development activities to managers on health, attendance and wellbeing topics to enhance manager’s knowledge and skills.
- To advise and support leaders to proactively support employee wellbeing and promoting flexible and innovative working practices.
- To actively make recommendations for improvements to processes and policy, and support with communicating and training leaders in the Trust on these changes where necessary.
- To collate, analyse and interpret HR performance management data relating to health and attendance.
- To develop, use and maintain a case record system to ensure cases are being managed appropriately and consistently, demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.
- To manage a broad range of case work in relation to health and attendance, engaging with process such as redeployment, reasonable adjustments, and potentially final review meetings.
Skill Experience Knowledge
- Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or demonstrable experience within an HR related field of study.
- CIPD qualified - Level 3 or 5
- Relevant employment law and NHS / Trust policies and procedures.
- Ability to use spreadsheets databases, HR information systems and other electronic information systems to inform decision making.
- Previous experience of managing a case load.
- A minimum of 6 months previous experience working at Advisor level
- Provide advice on the interpretation of HR policies & procedures.
- Analyse complex HR issues across a range of options to decide on appropriate course of action in relation to wellbeing, sickness counselling, ill-health hearings and other HR related matters.
- Problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands.
- Ability to work on own initiative and organise own workload with minimal supervision.
- Able to prioritise, organise and manage a diverse workload to meet deadlines and service requirements.
- Communicates complex and sensitive information on a wide range of HR issues e.g. health and sickness absence, redeployment and reasonable adjustments in a range of settings i.e. informal and formal meetings with staff/staff representatives, hearings, etc.
- Delivers HR training courses on HR Policies & Procedures to groups of managers.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills. Effective negotiating, listening and influencing skills.
- Communicates with a broad range of people both internally and externally to the Trust. Has an awareness of barriers to communication and acts to overcome this by using persuasion techniques to reach agreement on a range of HR issues.
- Acts as a Team members and keeps colleagues updated on changes to HR employment Law & legislation.
- Ability to work across a complex, changing, and multi- disciplinary environment.
