Band 6 Rostering Senior Specialist
Role Summary
The post holder will be responsible for implementing the full functionality of the Allocate Systems and supporting the development of e-rostering across the Trust. Working with the Rostering Operations Manager and key stakeholders, the Rostering Senior Specialist will lead rostering performance improvements and the achievement of e-Rostering KPIs throughout the Trust.
As a systems expert, the post holder will share their expertise and provide technical support and training to all Trust users of the e-Rostering system.

Pay Rates: Up to £24 per hour Umbrella or £20 per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay
Hours / Working Days: 37.5 hours per week / Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm

Key Responsibilities
e-Rostering Performance & Service Development
- Monitor roster practices, develop improvement plans, and work with stakeholders to improve effective rostering.
- Maintain and communicate roster performance against set KPIs.
- Provide support/advice to roster managers and Directors of Nursing; present regular performance data.
- Lead the rollout and management of new or existing e-Rostering areas and system functionalities.
- Support the Trust to meet Workforce goals and NHSE/I benchmarks, implementing Lord Carter’s recommendations.
- Collaborate with Finance to improve establishment-control processes and ensure changes are reflected in HealthRoster.
- Develop operational policies and a wider range of rostering performance indicators to assist directorate teams.
- Identify training needs, develop sessions, and conduct post-implementation evaluations.
- Support the e-Rostering helpdesk to ensure a high-quality, responsive service.
Training
- Lead the development, organisation, and delivery of e-Rostering training (including online packages).
- Maintain a transparent system for training bookings and records.
- Create and update user guides and ensure best practice policies are readily available.
- Deliver regular and ad-hoc training across sites, evaluate sessions, and act on feedback for continuous improvement.
- Provide user profiles and train staff in their use.
General e-Rostering Duties
- Provide specialised rostering support; identify and resolve complex problems.
- Champion e-Rostering systems across all staff groups and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure timely advice and guidance.
- Review and refresh roster templates with unit managers.
- Assist the helpdesk team and support the rostering inbox as required.
- Undertake audits, manage workforce data for accuracy, and ensure compliance with Trust data policies.
- Carry out projects and escalate issues or data-quality concerns when necessary.
Payroll Support
- Assist the e-Rostering Team Leader with payroll processes, reconciliation of discrepancies, and resolution of pay queries as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
Degree level education or equivalent experience. - Evidence of continued personal development. - Experience with electronic rostering applications. - Knowledge of rosters, clinical staff needs, and SOP development. - Experience managing change and providing project support. - Proven ability to design/deliver group and individual training; produce training materials. - Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
