Finance Business Partner

Main Purpose

To deliver a complete financial management service to specified Directorates within 

the organisation and play a key role in the overall financial management of the organisation.

To support the strategic financial management of the organisation through the provision of

financial leadership to senior leadership teams; responsible for the financial 

governance of specified Directorates, ensuring financial regularity, compliance and 

value-for-money within a framework of excellent customer service and continuous 

improvement.

Location: Lisburn (Valid driving licence and access to a car required)

Job Type: Temporary

Duration of booking: Expected to last 6 months with possible extension

Proposed start date: ASAP

Pay Rates: £24.41 per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay

Hours / Working Days: 37.5 hours per week / Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Business Partnering

  • Provide a comprehensive financial management service to designated Directorates.
  • Provide financial leadership, advice and challenge to senior management to support effective decision-making and value for money.
  • Act as a key custodian of Directorate budgets, working closely with budget holders to manage budgets and savings targets.
  • Provide monthly financial reporting, variance analysis, forecasting, scenario planning and service costing.
  • Produce accurate year-end forecasts and develop strategies to manage financial risks and achieve financial targets.
  • Analyse financial data and provide clear management information to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Provide specialist financial advice and guidance to senior management and Directorates.
  • Support procurement activities and liaise with the Procurement function.
  • Promote financial awareness and best practice across Directorates

Business Planning & Strategy

  • Support the development of Directorate business plans and organisational financial strategies.
  • Contribute to the annual budget-setting process and provide guidance to relevant business areas.
  • Ensure financial plans align with wider organisational priorities and strategic objectives.
  • Provide financial expertise and advice on organisational change projects and policy initiatives.
  • Support the development of long-term financial strategies, budgets and financial projections.
  • Provide specialist financial input into business cases and option appraisals.
  • Assess the financial impact of operational decisions and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Support post-project evaluations, particularly in relation to financial performance.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Fully qualified accountant and full member of one of the following professional bodies: ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA, Chartered Accountants Ireland, ICAS, ICAEW and Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland

OR

  • Minimum 2 years' relevant experience providing a comprehensive management accounting and analysis service to senior management.

Experience

  • Strong experience analysing, interpreting and presenting financial information to support strategic decision-making, financial management, performance management and/or process improvement.
  • Experience providing financial advice and challenge to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Experience supporting business cases, financial strategies and organisational change.
