Pay rate: £20.92 PAYE holiday pay inclusive
Duration: 3 months with potential extension
Working Pattern: Predominantly site-based with regular travel throughout the borough 36 hours Mon to Fri (09:00:AM - 05:00:PM)
Driving Licence: Essential
Own Vehicle: Preferred
Role Overview
We are recruiting for a Network Permit Coordinator to join a local authority's Street Works and Network Management function. The role will focus on monitoring highway works undertaken by utility companies and contractors, ensuring compliance with permits, traffic management requirements and relevant legislation.
The successful candidate will undertake regular site inspections, investigate non-compliance and work closely with contractors and utility companies to ensure works are carried out safely and correctly.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor street works and highway works across the borough.
- Undertake regular site inspections.
- Review compliance with highway permits and traffic management requirements.
- Identify and investigate instances of non-compliance.
- Issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) where appropriate.
- Liaise with utility companies, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Ensure highway works are undertaken safely and in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, permits and enforcement activity.
- Investigate and resolve issues relating to street works and network management.
- Support the council's future rollout of the lane rental scheme.
- Work closely with internal highways, network management and enforcement teams.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience in street works, highways, network management, permit coordination or inspection.
- Knowledge of traffic management requirements and relevant highway legislation.
- Experience monitoring contractors, utilities or works taking place on the public highway.
- Understanding of permit schemes and/or Fixed Penalty Notices.
- Confident undertaking site inspections and dealing with contractors and utility companies.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
