Product Specialist – Pathology Systems Management
Location: Manchester

About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Specialist to join the Pathology Systems Management team, combining specialist Biomedical Science knowledge (band 6 level) with advanced digital and informatics expertise. You will be responsible for the configuration, optimisation and support of the Trust's Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and associated digital pathology systems, ensuring these remain clinically safe and support diagnostic services across all pathology disciplines.

Hours: Core hours 08:00–17:00, Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays). Own car required for occasional travel to remote locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as Deputy Liaison Officer between Trust IM&T and the LIMS software supplier for support, installations and upgrades
• Analyse complex laboratory processes and translate clinical/operational requirements into digital solutions
• Manage user access, system configuration and documentation
• Investigate system faults, interface failures and analyser connectivity issues, carrying out root cause analysis
• Support digital projects from requirements gathering through to implementation, including process mapping, testing and supplier liaison
• Maintain compliance with UKAS ISO 15189, ISO 22870, MHRA requirements and Information Governance legislation
• Support clinical safety testing (DCB0129/DCB0160) with the Trust Clinical Safety Officer
• Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning
• Represent Pathology Informatics at Trust, regional and supplier meetings
• Mentor colleagues and share specialist system knowledge

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

• Advanced knowledge of LIMS platforms such as Winpath Enterprise / Telepath, gained within an acute laboratory setting
• Experience using integration systems (e.g. Lyniate Rhapsody) to troubleshoot requests and results
• Specialist knowledge within a Biomedical Science discipline (evidenced by specialist portfolio or equivalent)
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex problems and identify practical solutions
• Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical issues for non-technical audiences and negotiate with external suppliers
• Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and contribute to strategic planning
