Role Summary

An exciting interim opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Emerging Technology to lead the Trust's digital innovation agenda. Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, the successful candidate will drive the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI, digital health solutions, automation, data analytics, and remote monitoring tools to support service transformation, improve patient outcomes, and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of the Trust's emerging technology and innovation strategy. 
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement innovative digital solutions that support clinical and operational priorities. 
  • Manage a portfolio of innovation and transformation projects, ensuring delivery against agreed objectives. 
  • Develop business cases and support the securing of external innovation funding opportunities. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with NHS partners, academic institutions, research organisations, and technology suppliers. 
  • Support the implementation of AI and digital health technologies in line with NHS standards and best practice. 
  • Ensure compliance with information governance, cyber security, and digital regulatory requirements. 
  • Drive stakeholder engagement, change management, and adoption of new technologies across the organisation. 

Essential Requirements

  • Significant senior leadership experience in digital transformation, innovation, or technology within the NHS or healthcare sector. 
  • Proven track record of delivering complex digital and innovation programmes. 
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies, including AI, digital health, and data-driven solutions. 
  • Experience of managing senior stakeholders and developing strategic partnerships. 
  • Excellent programme management, communication, and influencing skills. 
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience, with relevant project/programme management expertise. 

Assignment Objectives

During this 4-month assignment, the postholder will review the Trust's innovation portfolio, identify priority opportunities for digital transformation, strengthen external partnerships, and support the delivery of key technology initiatives aligned to NHS digital priorities.
