Job summary
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Finance Business Partner to join the Adults & SASS Deputy Head and Senior FBP Team within the finance function.
The successful candidate will support the Head of Management Accounts across budget setting, financial monitoring, forecasting, variance analysis and financial reporting. You will provide high-quality financial advice to Service Managers, Heads of Division and Directors, supporting effective financial decision-making across the organisation.
The role will also involve deputising for the Head of Management Accounts when required and providing leadership and support to members of the finance team.
Key responsibilities
• Support the Head of Management Accounts with financial reports for the Board and Senior Leadership Team.
• Monitor budgets against actual expenditure and identify financial risks and variances.
• Produce accurate and timely management accounts and financial information.
• Prepare income and expenditure forecasts using financial systems and excel.
• Analyse adverse variances and provide clear financial commentary.
• Work closely with budget managers, providing financial advice, support and guidance.
• Support and develop budget managers to improve financial management and expenditure control.
• Prepare financial costings for new services and support relevant projects.
• Contribute to annual budget setting and financial planning.
• Ensure the financial ledger accurately reflects income and expenditure.
• Support the preparation of statutory annual accounts.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors as required.
• Approve payments as part of the organisation's two-person authorisation process.
• Deputise for the Head of Management Accounts when required.
• Lead, manage and develop members of the finance team.
Experience and skills
• Proven experience working as a Management Accountant within a complex organisation.
• Previous management experience within a financial environment.
• Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting experience.
• Excellent Excel skills and good IT literacy.
• Experience using financial ledger/accounting systems.
• Ability to interpret and clearly explain complex financial information to a range of audiences.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Experience working with managers and senior stakeholders at different levels.
• Experience supporting and developing team members.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
• Qualified accountant (CCAB) or currently studying towards a CCAB accountancy qualification.
• Recognised accountancy qualification at degree level, AAT, BTEC Advanced Professional Diploma, Graduate Certificate, NVQ4 or equivalent.
Desirable:
• Experience or understanding of Health and Social Care services.
