Job Purpose
The Enforcement Officer will support the Council’s duty to prevent crime and disorder, working with police and partners to tackle anti-social behaviour, environmental issues, and other offences. The role involves proactive patrols, investigations, and enforcement of civil and criminal legislation, ensuring community safety and public protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out patrols and enforcement activities to address crime, nuisance, and disorder.
- Investigate civil and criminal offences in line with legislation (e.g. PACE, CPIA).
- Prepare case files for legal proceedings and give evidence in court.
- Respond to complaints, Member enquiries, and service requests.
- Work with police, fire, council teams, and other agencies on joint enforcement.
- Maintain accurate case records and data systems.
- Attend community and ward meetings as required.
- Act as a visible ambassador for the Council in a front-line role.
Requirements
- Current or willingness to obtain Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) certificate.
- DBS clearance and full manual driving licence.
- Experience in enforcement, investigations, or similar public-facing roles.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and ICT skills.
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and in partnership with other agencies.
- Flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends, and in all weather conditions.
