This Biomedical Science position is suitable for a qualified BMS Locum Haematology/ Blood Transfusion Specialist Biomedical Scientist Channel Islands to apply on a locum basis to start as a locum with a pay of £35.00 - £40.00 P/H.

Beneficial criteria to help be successful in this BMS role include the following:

• Perform analytical testing in Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Coagulation.
• Validate and authorize patient results in accordance with laboratory policies.
• Perform blood grouping, antibody screening, crossmatching, and issue of blood components.
• Investigate abnormal results and liaise with clinicians where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with quality management systems and accreditation standards.
• Perform analyser calibration, troubleshooting, and advanced quality control procedures.
• Participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to health and safety regulations.
• Authorise complex transfusion decisions, including investigation of transfusion reactions and resolution of serological discrepancies.
• Validate and authorise donor serology results, ensuring safe release of blood components in accordance with transfusion guidelines.
• Daily monitoring of blood component inventory and monitor stock levels
• Ensure full compliance with quality management systems, haemovigilance requirements, and accreditation standards.
• Develop, review, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in line with best practice and regulatory guidance.
• Previous experience in haematology and blood film morphology.
• Experience of working with Sysmex XN1000/XN2000 desirable 
• Experience in coagulation
• Previous recent experience working in blood transfusion.
