PMO Business Manager – Interim Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced PMO Business Manager to join a Strategy Division within a large NHS organisation on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled programme and project management professional to support the delivery of Cost Improvement Programmes (CIP) and strategic transformation initiatives.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Programme Management Office (PMO), ensuring the delivery of high-quality information, facilitating prioritisation of project deliverables, monitoring progress, and identifying associated risks and benefits. The role requires close collaboration with Executive Workstream Leads, Corporate Leads, Divisional Management Teams, and senior strategic leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of Cost Improvement Programmes (CIP) and strategic transformation initiatives.
- Provide high-quality programme and project management support across a portfolio of strategic projects.
- Monitor, track, and report on project progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and benefits realisation.
- Develop and maintain robust project governance, reporting, and assurance processes.
- Support prioritisation of project deliverables and ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
- Produce high-quality management information and performance reports for senior stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with executive and operational leaders to drive programme delivery.
- Identify and escalate risks, issues, and barriers to successful implementation.
- Support continuous improvement of PMO processes, frameworks, and methodologies.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Significant experience working within a PMO environment, preferably within an Acute NHS Trust, or as an Operational Manager with substantial project planning and delivery experience.
- Proven Programme and/or Project Management experience, including development of project management frameworks, monitoring arrangements, and review processes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly within complex organisational change environments.
- Demonstrable experience delivering objectives to challenging timescales and developing innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Experience working with senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
