Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced seeking a highly organised and proactive Medical Staffing Project Coordinators to support a significant programme of work focused on reviewing and improving compliant rota templates for Resident and Locally Employed Doctors across 35 specialities.
The post holders will help assess rota resilience, ensure compliance with the 2016 Resident Doctor Contract, and work closely with Care Groups to support service, workforce wellbeing, and training needs. This role requires strong analytical skills, the confidence to challenge, and the ability to coordinate multiple streams of project activity within tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply working knowledge of the 2016 Resident Doctor Contract to analyse rota templates for compliance.
- Review compliant rota templates across 35 medical specialties, assessing structure, shift timings, staffing levels, and contractual adherence.
- Ensure rota modelling aligns with contractual rules and recognised best practice principles.
- Assess rota templates against pre-defined criteria to produce a comprehensive RAG rating for each rota.
- Utilise workforce intelligence and data (e.g., exception reports) to identify themes, risks, and areas for improvement.
- Document findings, trends, and concerns to support reporting at Care Group and Trust levels.
- Coordinate all project activities related to rota review, compliance, and improvement.
- Provide administrative oversight, including project tracking, progress reporting, and documentation.
- Support the roll-out of Medical Rostering systems as required.
- Ensure consistent, accurate, and timely communication with key stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of the 2016 Resident Doctor Contract.
- Understanding of rota templates, including how they are built and what constitutes compliance.
- Experience coordinating projects within medical staffing, workforce planning, or rota management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to challenge and question appropriately.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience working within an NHS medical staffing or workforce planning environment.
- Knowledge of medical rostering systems (e.g., Allocate / Health Roster).
- Experience supporting rota redesign or broader workforce transformation projects.
