Pay Rates: £14 - £17ph PAYE Inclusive, depending on skill and experience
Working Days and Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:30 – 16:30
Hybrid Working: No always on client site
System knowledge: Emis Web experience essential - candidates without Emis experience will not be contacted
Smart Card: Would be preferable, not essential
Job Summary:
To analyse clinical statements and assign standardized codes using a classification system.
Duties:
- Using Emis Web
- Transfer relevant data from clinical correspondence to patient records, code and link each problem appropriately, paper or electronic.
- Scan and attach patient related documents to clinical record
- Summarising new records, ensuring all clinical data is transferred accurately.
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with the practice procedures
- To critically examine the clinical information required assigning the national codes in accordance with the national guidelines.
- To work in a variety of specialties with good medical terminology
- To ensure adherence to local procedures for clinical coding relating to individual specialties/consultants.
- To liaise with consultants to address any queries arising during the abstraction process.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Must have previous experience as a Clinical Coder – essential
- Accredited Clinical Coder – desirable
- Expertise in clinical coding using ICD10 and OPCS4
- Knowledge and experience in the use of medical terminology
- Accuracy and attention to detail is essential
